Solo Trip 1

Who is
Solo Trip?

My name's Pratyush Sinha and I make music under the name of Solo Trip. A Mumbai based indie rock artist- I make late night drive music for fans of Tame Impala, Steve Lacy, Wallows, and other guitars/ riff driven pop bands.

I'd say my genre would be  pop-rock, alt-rock, synth-pop, indie-pop but what's genre these days anyway - I'm always experimenting.

NEW RELEASE

U CAUGHT ME LOOKING AT YOU TOO MANY TIMES

March 25, 2025

The newest single is called U CAUGHT ME LOOKING AT YOU TOO MANY TIMES. A garage and punk rock track - I go back to my roots with this one. Having played the guitar since I was 10, I wanted to make a very raw track along the lines of The White Stripes and The Black Keys, highlighting just guitars, bass and drums.

The lyrics are inspired by this Sunday bottomless karaoke brunch I had at The Little Door in Andheri. It features characters I met there and is about the chaos that ensued while having the best time. I produced and mixed the track, and Sidharth Gupta is on the mastering.

I turned my living room upside down to make it the music video set. I had a very particular idea for it where it'll be vintage footage of me performing my music in a crafty room. I sought my friends to build up and shoot the room as a set. This was my first time 'directing' and 'editing' a (music) video.

big girl (pretty also)

January 29, 2025

The song is about seeing my girlfriend grow up with me and finding her way in life. The sound is synth-pop and groovy. An indie-pop track riding on a moody bassline and laid back vocals. Back in 2023 listening to Tame Impala and Steve Lacy, I wanted to write a song centered around a bassline.

The demo came together in one day but I knew I had to get it proper mixed n mastered and I’m grateful that Sidharth Gupta from the band Green Park decided to take it up and did such an amazing job. Wanted to make a music video inspired by Del Water Gap’s vintage style and that’s exactly what I found in Jay Gurow’s content online, which he and Shrey turned into reality and I’m super happy with how that turned out. The video can be seen right below.

Super Locked Doors

2021

I had put out my first single called Super Locked Doors. It's an acoustic-pop track I had released during lockdown in Nottingham, where I knew I had to sit down and figure out how to do this music thing, while in college. Got myself the cheapest Behringer  sound card, and a Samson mic. Put two and two together and came out with a track I still go back to interestingly. Could use better mixing but hey that’s fine by me. Now ofc I’ve bought the standard Focusrites and Rodes.

What's next for Solo Trip

I'm putting out 2 more Solo Trip singles in the first half of 2025, do some shows and then put out an EP early next year. These are all songs I’ve been working on since a few years now but only with time have become more confident about as I’ve grown as a producer. I’ve played the guitar since 2010 but I’ve been wearing more of a producer hat since the last 5 years.

Mumbai and music

Working a day job in Mumbai couldn’t have come at a better time because there’s no other place that I can imagine myself being to get into the local music scene. Artists, bands, heck even journalists and people from the music industry  I have looked up to for ages are the ones I see in the audience for gigs all the time. I’m looking to grow more into this as I start rolling out the music gradually but it’s super fortunate for me to be in Bombay.

Solo Trip music comes from the ideas of a boy who grew up on guitar music, then turned his head towards what pop had to offer. That’s where you’d find me- pop hooks dressed as a rock act. I love the grandeur and exclusivity that rock offers but am always fascinated by the appeal of pop.
